13th March
Why is Conscious Day Different?

Conscious Day: The Pause That Powers Change
One day. One choice.
A world of impact.
Other awareness days have shown the power of silence — using a collective pause as a way to raise awareness, to express solidarity, or to invite reflection.
Unlike other awareness days that focus on a single issue for example:
- Earth Day (22 April) asks: How do we protect the planet?
- International Day of Conscience (5 April), asks: How do we act with peace and ethics?
- International Day of Happiness (20 March) asks: How do we support our wellbeing?
Conscious Day is holistic. It asks: ‘How do we live, work, love and celebrate consciously every day? It’s not just about one cause – it’s about raising our collective consciousness across all causes.
Conscious Day is different.
Our pause is not about switching off – it’s about switching on.
It’s not passive; it’s purposeful.
It’s a reset button for people for people, businesses, communities, and the planet to pause, reflect, and choose to realign consciously in all aspects of life and business in order to re-emerge stronger.
One day of the year where we are invited to:
Pause before rushing through life.
Reflect on how we live, work, love, buy, celebrate and connect.
Choose consciously – in our businesses, relationships, communities and celebrations.
Sometimes, the most powerful way to move forward is to first stop, breathe, and choose a better way.
Conscious Day
Recognises that every choice matters. From what we consume, to how we lead, to how we celebrate life’s milestones – each decision shapes the wellbeing of ourselves, our communities and our planet.
Conscious Day
Is a moment each year for people, businesses, and communities to stop, reflect, and choose a better way forward for themselves and the planet.
Conscious Day
This is more than a day – it’s an opportunity to reflect, take action, and commit to meaningful change. Every decision we make has an impact. What will yours be?
Why the 13th March?
Conscious Day comes at a powerful seasonal moment and mid-March is a natural moment of ‘reset’ energy in the year (after the rush of January / February, before Spring. It is positioned just after International Women’s Day (8 March) and just before International Day of Happiness (20 March). We chose 13 March as there was no international observance on this day.
It bridges equality, wellbeing and sustainability – offering a collective reset before Spring begins.

Why is Conscious Day so Important?
We live in a world of speed, noise and distraction. Every day, we make hundreds of choices, what to eat, what to buy, how to travel, how to celebrate, and how to lead. Most of the time, we make them on autopilot.
But unconscious choices have consequences:
For ourselves
Stress, burnout, poor health, unfulfilled relationships.
For our communities
Inequality, disconnection, wasted potential.
For our planet
Waste, overconsumption, climate crisis.

Conscious Day exists as a global pause button.
It is important because it gives us one dedicated day to:
– Pause the autopilot
– Reflect on whether our actions align with our values
– Choose in ways that serve our wellbeing, our businesses, our communities, and our planet.
The day is holistic.

Conscious Day says ‘Every choice matters. Every day. Change starts with one conscious decision’.
Conscious Day is important because it creates the space we desperately need in a distracted world – the space to live, work and celebrate in a way that truly matters.
But most importantly…
We are stepping into a future where artificial intelligence makes choices faster than we can think. What we read, what we buy, who we connect with, even how we work – increasingly, AI will be suggesting, nudging, and sometimes deciding for us.
Conscious Day will become even more important in an AI-driven world.
Conscious Day
Reminds us to stay human. Consciousness – self-awareness, empathy, values, creativity – is what differentiates humans from machines.
Conscious Day
It gives us back the steering wheel. AI can suggest what’s easiest, but only we can choose what’s right.
Conscious Day
It asks us to apply consciousness to technology itself. Are we using AI to uplift humanity or to widen divides?
Conscious Day
It creates intentional pauses in a future of constant acceleration. The faster the world moves, the more important it becomes to stop, reflect and choose with care.
In short, AI may be intelligent, but it can’t be conscious.
That responsibility – and that gift – still belongs to us.
Why the Llama Symbol?
Llamas make you stop and look – and that’s the point of Conscious Day.
They’re calm, observant and only act with intention.
They set boundaries (and aren’t afraid to spit when something’s not okay).

Who is the Founder of Conscious Day?
Conscious Day exists because I needed it too. Conscious Day was born out of my imperfect journey – and it’s an invitation for yours.
Conscious Day was founded by Celia Gaze, an ordinary woman who spent years living anything but consciously.
I’ve rushed headlong into things, battled with ADHD, burned out four times, and often lived on autopilot. For so long, I chased success without stopping to ask myself if it was truly the life I wanted.
It was only through those struggles that I realised something needed to change. I began to see how much of our lives – our work, our celebrations, even our relationships – are shaped by expectations and unconscious choices.
Conscious Day grew out of that realisation. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about pausing long enough to choose differently. If I – with all my flaws, distractions, and stumbles – can take small steps toward living more consciously, then so can you.
That’s why I created Conscious Day: to give us all a reminder, once a year, to stop, reflect, and ask…
“Am I living, working, loving and celebrating in a way that truly matters?”
